yeah wunderfull :(

well 4 more years of a war monger and we will need to force our youngsters to go fight, sorry if any of youse are bush backers,

but he is gunna have more war if he is in 4 more, all ill say
Sorry, but this bill was instituted by two Democrats - not by George Bush. By the way it just failed miserably - in fact it was voted down by all but two . . . hmm I wonder who those two were.

Wake up folks. It was 8 years of a do nothing administration that encouraged and bolstered terrorists to attack us. We were hit overseas many times before Sept. 11th and mr. Bill CLinton's policies (do nothing policies) only served to encourage our enemies.

What does Iraq have to do with Terrorism you ask? (because you always do). The answer is fundamentally "simple", so please pay attention.

One of the MAJOR reasons why terrorists have declared A Fattwah (or however you spell it) against us - that's a declaration of death to the United States - is because of the troops that we have placed in Saudi Arabia, with the Saudi governements blessing, to protect Saudi oil interests against the aggression of Saddam Hussein and Iraq.

So, using a simple transitive prperty of mathematics you can see that Saddam wanted Saudi oil, the U.S. wanted to defend Saudi oil, terrorists wanted the U.S. out of Saudi land . . . therefore terrorist wanted to aid Saddam.

There are many other reasons, but rest assured, fighting terrorism isn't a one country war - it was never restricted to Afghanistan - it never will be. Turning Iraq into a Democracy instead of a dictatorship will ensure that the "people" of Iraq are empowered with freedom. I guarantee the fall-out from democracy will be a nation opposed to terrorism, a country who will take the necessary steps to ensure that terrorists do not operate within their borders.

First - we have to get these Iraqi people up on their feet. Why else do you think terrorists have been pouring into the country to fight the US? They don't WANT a bastion of Democracy, opposed to terrorism, in the middle of the Islamic world.

War is never pretty in any form, or for any reason. Terrorism is a fact of life in this century. Matter of fact, it has been a way of life in the middle east well before this century. Free societies march, protest, and do their best to bring about change. Non-free societies have resorted to more extreme measures (terrorism), since marches/protests/and the like were met with iron fists - i.e. imprisonment, torture, and/or death.

Politics is a way of thinking. No one is right or wrong, and the truth is generally a mix of both sides of the fence. No president will solve terrorism any time soon, democrat or republican. The hate of America that fuels this terrorism is rooted deep inside. In some ways, war will only breed more terrorism. Iraqi and muslim children are loosing their mothers and fathers in this conflict. The hate generated from that will likely dwell in them a long time...dare I say forever.

On the other side of the fence, if terrorism is a fact of this century, where do we want to "fight it"? In our land, or in someone elses? Terrorists and extremists are flocking to Iraq to have a shot at American troops. If they weren't engaged there, they would be hard at work planning the next large strike in America....and what is next? A nuclear weapon stolen from Russia, or bought from North Korea? or how about chemical or biological weapons from somewhere else? or even one of our American grade schools like what happened in Russia! Terrorism is the poor mans way of revenge, and it will only get worse until all people are provided freedom, liberty, and the opportunity to suceed.

I voted for Bush four years ago. I struggle daily saying he does not deserve another four years. He LIED to us to justify a war that has been poorly planned, poorly executed, is only getting worse, and has no end in sight. Our country needs a change. Kerry does not bring the change that I believe in. It is to extreme, as his record shows and his speeches promote daily. I also live in a swing state. Probably will flip-flop candidate decisions up until I mark my ballot. Heck, Nader is even fair game right now, and I realize he has no real shot anyway!

So, I can take a stand on either side of this issue, and debate all day long with people. My comments above support and attack BOTH sides. One last time I ask everyone to withold politics from the forum. A joke and light hearted comments are always welcome. Political debates in this place will only divide us. Actually changing someone's views or minds using this is virtually impossible, so spend your time doing something fun instead - log on and play T2 or T:V.... :D

He LIED? Mr. Bush lied? I think you've been paying too much attention to the left wing propaganda. It is preposterous to think that our President lied to justify this war.

He didn't lie. He made a choice based on the "intelligence" that he was provided. And it wasn't just the U.S. CIA that provided the intelligence.

Russian intelligence, British intelligence, Jordanian intelligence, data passed down from the Clinton administration, and on and on, pointed to Saddam having weapons of mass destruction. A number of Democrats were provided the "same" intelligence and stood side by side with the president when the decision to attack was made. I can provide some great outtakes from Tom Daschle on the matter.

Was the intelligence wrong? Was it flawed? ABSOLUTELY.

But if you are the president of the United States, and you are presented with information that says:

A - Saddam has weapons of Mass Destruction.

B - Saddam has ties to terrorist organizations.

C- Saddam is planning an attack on the United States.

What the hell would you do?

The intelligence was flawed - no one would argue that, but it was NOT president Bush's fault.

What has hurt the United States is that the Democratic party took this error in intelligence, turned it into a propaganda war against the Bush administration, and in effect divided our country right down the middle.

I blame Democrats for the current divide. People like Michael Moore, and Senator Kennedy can go to hell in my book.

I briefly started to type rebuttals, but I must practice what I preach....restraint. Rather than debate either side (both of which have valid points), we'll just let this fade away down the topic list. :)
