I can neither confirm nor deny the autheticity of this claim, however the the story/claim is generatting real interest and is getting a lot of attention, I'll pass the link to the toxicologists up the isle from me... they'll know if its a fraud or the real deal.

My read on this from various sources is that success in the lab and success in humans are worlds apart for cancer (and most other) drugs. Several "promising lab drugs" have yielded little to no results in human trials. This one is no different - it has great theories, has produced solid success in lab animals/trials, but needs the true test of human trials to determine if it is a true treatment or cure.

Given its low cost and lack of potential for drug company profit, a drug company sponsered human trial is obviously unlikely. It needs government and/or university sponsership to get moving in this phase.

Why hunt moose anyway? We're just big, slow, dumb, and make for easy kills...oops.

The toxicologists primarly look for new data /studies regarding toxic chemicals and not possible cures but they cautiously give these articles a thumbs up approval!

They don't know the people in the Univ of Alberta but the are very familiar with the researchers at the University of Dundee in the UK, which is referenced in this article.

Human trials will have to be conducted but this opens up a new approach, to target the metabolic aspects vice the mutation. This looks very promising.

This was a very good find Cyn!

Here is a link to a page the University has made for this discovery, including a few links to donate to their Cancer Research fund.

Yeah I saw that when I ran a search on the researcher's name. I got to tell you, this article has caused a big buzz in my dept and one of the business groups since we produce chemicals for pharmeceutical use as well as industrial applications.
