The reason why it doesnt support those cards is that the cards do not have vertex/pixel shader support. The cards just simply dont have that technology. It would be like trying to drive a car through the woods.... only an offroad vehicle will do.
In order to make it playable with the older cards, they would have to completly re-design the rendering engine... in essence, they would need to make two rendering engines... one for old cards, and one for new cards. No company now adays is going to do double the developement (espically whe they know their game is good enough to warrent upgrading for
).
but anyhow, i do understand your fustration pharoah. I just wanted to point out that its more than just a simple decison not to support your card :p
if you happen to have a Gforce 4 TI, there is a little patch you can use to atleast play the game... it will look pretty crazy though.
