Jack Thompson was a lawyer who tried to limit or press laws against gaming. He wanted stricter and harsher penalties or policies for game ratings, as well as create heavier taxes on games. He believed that they were a cause of youth mischief, and was one of the foremost advocates against video games. Pretty much he sued a lot of gaming companies, the most infamous one was Take-Two for their GTA series. Do a search on wikipedia and you'll find some more info about him.

In short, this is the Gamer's Devil.

I'll second that but won't be as kind as Snipeye.

Jack Thompson getting disbarred was pure karma. Jack Thompson was an opportunist, he tried to make a name for himself with his insane crusade against the video gaming industry.

Did you even read the article and do you know what disbarred means?

It means that he loses his license to practice law. And on top of that, he cannot reapply for at least 10 years, and he can't go to other states BAR examinations without creating a lot of hostility amongst lawyers. So he's effectively out of the picture, so to speak, or at least as its leading actor.

He's an arrogant waste of space, honestly. He caused a lot of grief for a lot of innocent workers, and I for one am glad he lost the life he built for himself. He sure would have been one happy man if every employee involved with the game industry lost their jobs.
