The more I play this game the better it is. I have gotten a little better at skiing, I still can't wrap my puny brain around the grappler but this game is so much fun.

For naysayers please just try it out for a week, two hours a day, then play something else, not a tribes game, for two days, then T:V for three days, repeat. I find the little break makes me so much better. You can go so fast.

Sorry for the trolling.

It's a great game. The only problem with me is that it takes me for ever to find a decent server (and by decent I mean one that I can actually get into) before the lag becomes an issue. I've found a few decent lag-free pubs to play in but thats it.

I was just on some server that I was pinging at 54 +/- 10. Great fun. I personally think some of the lag issues have to do with forcefeedback being enabled by default but I haven't really tested this. I just disable it, with a bunch of other things.

what other things!
I cannot really play the game the way I feel it should be played. Its very hard to see an it feel like fps,s are at 2. Someone mentioned a memory leak, but i have no clue what that does to the game.
I did a tiny bit of tweaking but still, Im thinking a larger pc is the only way around this.

Praising a game isnt trolling...it's all the naysayers that are trolling :P

It would be trolling if it was posted in the T2 section :P .

Hehe, thanks for the post though BFG...I'm really torn about T:V atm. Right now I'm leaning towards waiting a couple months for the price to drop...just not sure I want to shell out 50 bucks for it.

My specs are:
WinXP Pro
P4 3.0c ghz
Abit IC-7
1024mb Ram (2xCorsair CMX512-3200LL)
Radeon 9700pro 128mb
SB live! plat 512 (Yeah its old so what?)

On Arid I get (24 person server) 30-40 FPS. Used to get around 40-50 in the demo on emerald. I also haven't defragged in like a year, and I download a lot of stuff.

Anyways 30-40 FPS is considered playable by me. For your frame rate do the following:
  1. Find/make the shortcut to T:V
  2. Right click on the shortcut and go to properties.
  3. In the target window where it says ("F:\Program Files\VUGames\Tribes Vengeance\Program\Bin\TV_CD_DVD.exe")
    Change it to ("F:\Program Files\VUGames\Tribes Vengeance\Program\Bin\TV_CD_DVD.exe" -console)
  4. Start a game and press tab (For the console).
  5. Type "Stat FPS" in the console.
  6. Voila
*note: remove the parentheses!!!

What you only need is a new CPU, and maybe a motherboard. The vidcard is good, and you have plenty of RAM. I think the PIII is holding you back really.

yeah, the processor is the MAJOR problem i'de say... but she could really use another 512 megs of ram. The vid card isn't top of the line, but it is 128 megs, so it should be fine to run almost any game for another year maybe.

but yeah, the cheapest way to upgrade your computer would be to get a top-of the line processor (might require a new motherboard too i think, i don't know much about upgrading processors), and 512 more megs of ddr ram

I have an Athlon 1900, 512 of RAM and a 128 meg video card and I run it on the middle settings pretty well. I think she would be OK with a new processor that is low-end (nowadays). It could be a pretty cheap upgrade.
