I'm waiting for half life 2. I have a feeling doom won't be much more than running and gunning, with very little story. I'de like to play it for maybe an hour or two for the graphics, but that's about it

I never played DOOM but I read an article about DOOM 3; its more of a FPS not much of a multi-player game. After playing tribes... I'm hooked on the multi-player aspect of the game and the community. I don't think I can get into a single-sided game unless I'm feeling nostalgic and fire up Soviet Strike, Nuclear Strike, Bionic Commando, Asteriods, Defender, etc.

After all the constant rampages i'm hearing about how you should build your new sustem around Doom 3, i'm quite sick of it already. I'm not completely turning my back on it, but it's a slim chance i'll get it.

So what's your opinion about Valve and HL2? :D All the constant rants about the company and game for being delayed so long....

doom 3 is definitly NOT a multiplayer game. i'm fairly certain that the largest multiplayer map is 4 players. Not sure if that can be modded to make it better or not, but it is clear that single player is the focus.

Valve = OK by me. I use steam for generally everything (CS, DOD, CN:G lol)

I for one do think that the source code "leaking" was them covering their own ass, but thats my opinion. :P

IF I ever purchase D3, it will be after the price comes WAY down - either picking up a used copy, or simply waiting until the store price drops. Usually takes at least 6 months....sometimes 12 or more.

PC Gamer has out a review already in the magazine. They gave it a 94%. You'll have to have a pretty monster system to run it with good graphics, minimum is 1500mgz, 64 meg card, 384 meg RAM. My Athlon 1900+ and 128 meg card are considered between low and average system for it.

Thats the minimum system, with the graphics set waayyyy below what they can be. I have the same magazine, and they said that the graphics can get even better than... say a 3.4 GHz EE, 1 gig of ram, and a 6800 U/X800 XT vid card, etc... Now that's what I call insane graphics!
