Hey, this is Sexy McDoomington, Division Leader for BF2 over at uBp. I just wanted to extend a warm welcome to any of yall that play BF2. Please hop in our server, and you will recieve a warm welcome.

I know a big concern with many is rules, and ours are simple:

-No bad language
-No disrespect of ANYONE, especially members
-Baseraping uncaps is allowed ONLY when all other flags are capped. We have this rule because if it gets to the point where one team controls all the flags except for an enemies uncap, we want the round to end asap so we can start anew. Also, if the teams are wicked stacked to one side as a far as ranks and stuff, we will try to balance the teams as best as possible.

Depending on the infraction and who commits it, we usually warn, then kick or ban.

If yall got any questions, feel free to contect me:

Look foward to seeing you there!

Thanks for the info a rule sets McDoomington. Squeeg gave us an invite as well. I will plan to drop in later this week or weekend and log some time in the server. RD has maybe 3-6 players that really do much with BF2. We have fun, but we certainly don't fill up a server  .

Good rounds this weekend. Never saw JDOG or SexyMcDoomington, but there were a small group of [uBp] players on from time to time. [uBp]jim (I think?) seemed to be the one I saw most often, and squad'ed up with a couple of time.

Server was not overly busy, but did fill up once or twice. Seemed to average around 16-20 players. The games were okay at this number. It could be a little sparce, depending on the map.

Rule enforcement was not needed for the most part while I was on. No one really camping non-cap bases. No language issues. Only problem was 1-2 commanders who decided to sit in vehicles (jet and anit-air). This is a tough one if it is 8 vs 8, since the commander is needed to help fight then too.

Overall, it was a good weekend on the [uBp] server and I racked up a few more medals (placing in the top 3 for given maps). I will keep stopping in to play with [uBp] at this point.

Looks like BF2 gameplay is dropping off though. Incognito's servers were empty, as was FNT's. WDT had some good action - maybe slightly more players than [uBp] at time, but not consistently.

GG today Moose. I saw you rackin up the points in the jet on Dalian Plant.

We have at least a dozen active players, but probably more like 20, so the server is usually up from the late afternoon to the early morning.

Thanks for noticing. GG's to you as well. Was a more frusterating night for me than the weekend games were. Solid individual play did not get rewarded with team victories, as we always fell apart near the end - getting capped out and losing by attrition. No doubt, I'll be back for more.

BTW, the MK@L players are suspicious. Two of them last night always knew where I was, even in the absence of a UAV. It was rather suspect in my opinion. Not sure if they are regular players on the server or not. Their uncanny ability to always light me up got my attention quickly.

I have to post and say I'm less than impressed with the admin'ing of this server. Have yet to see the various players kicked (or even warned) who sit in an un-cappable base with a tank, transport vehicle, or on foot. These base campers INCLUDE [uBp] members with [uBp] funisnipe being the most frequent offender. And yes, there are PLENTY of [uBp] peeps in the server when the violations are occurring.

My requests for admin intervention have yet to even get a response, much less a warn or kick. My global requests or comments scroll off the screen with no response, acknowledgement, or action...

Moose

edit - I have applied for "guest/friend" access to the [uBp] forums, since that would obviously be the better place for this discussion.

About the admin'ing:

Our admin program had been down for most of this past week, so we were unable to kick, ban or even change maps. The server company fudged the install of the latest version of the external admin program, called BF2CC, and thus we couldnt do our jobs. Also, I jhave had a chat with our members and some other admins about thier responsibilities and overall behavior both in our server and while pubbing, and things are going to change for the better, and thats a promise.

Thanks McDoomington, especially for checking back in. Nothing is more frusterating than asking for admin help (or any question) and never getting a response. I will keep stopping in, and look forward to more active admin'ing.

I have only been playing BF2 for about three days now. Always wanted to play it before but I was on dial-up, now I have cable w00t!

Anyway, the past three days that I have played I have played only on this server. For the most part its fun to play on. However within the past three days I have noticed a huge annoyance. I dont particularly understand all the jargon that Moose has posted only because I am new to the game. However I am familiar with what spawn points are. This is where my problem is. I have noticed an awful lot of spawn point camping. What is agrivating is when its being done its people that cares nothing about whats going on in the game, they simply sit there and wait for you to spawn and BAM! Your dead before you even have the chance to see your surroundings. That is low, untalented, and very annoying in my oppinion! Im not trying to say anything about uBp but I have seen their own members spawn camping along with other non uBp members. I also have a question.... Is it a common tactic to use artillary on spawn points? Because I see a lot of that as well. I mean its like spawn...Get blown up....Spawn.....Get blown up! Just wondering?

That just makes the game boring and frustrating, especially for a new guy like myself. :)

Again not trying to say anything bad about uBp but the spawn camping is very annoying! Granted I am new but I know a fault when I see one.

I do enjoy playing on the server just wish this issue could be fixed.

Thanks, Icey

Icey,

Welcome to the land of cable, woot! And to BF2.

Spawn points come in two formats - "cap"-able (can be captured by either team by staying long enough at the flag causing it to switch) and "uncap"-able (flag cannot be changed by the opposite team).

I refuse to play on any server that allows camping of any flag that is "uncap"-able. This is part of the discussion with [uBp] above, and on Sunday I did see the rule enforced (YEAH!). One should be able to spawn at a non-cap base and not be immediated sniped or shot by a vehicle.

The above does not apply to regular flags that can be capped. Spawning on these can be hit or miss. If you spawn and get killed immediately, do not respawn at the same point - choose a new one instead, and talk with your squad (or join one). The best place to spawn is on the squad leader!

Arte is usually allowed to be dropped anywhere. Non-cap bases are questionable, however arte takes long enough to "reload" that one should be able to respawn and get out before the next strike.

Jets are a whole additional category. I know, since I fly them often. Flags that change from your flag to neutral are PRIME bombing grounds, as are the opponents airfields. It is much easier to bomb when the other teams jets are out of commision. Beware of these tactics on any maps with jets - changing a flag or sitting near the airstrip are risky. Always take cover when possible.

We'll chat some more on TS about this stuff. Would be nice to have another <RD> team mate in the server :D

And as I eluded to above, I did see active admin'ing on the [uBp] server Sunday. I hope it keeps up! Let me know if you need an additional hand to help out with it.

Thanks much Moose that was a big help. I am new to the game and didnt understand a few things but you cleared up a lot of my question.

The particular incident that aggrivated me the most was on what your calling an uncappable spawn point. As matter of fact at the time it was my teams only spawn point. Well every time I, or many other of my teammates would spawn, we were killed instantly. There were like 3-4 guys sniping everyone that spawned.

Other than that I have had a lot of good fun time playing!

I have to say that BF2 is the only game that has even come close to T2 for me. I have grown quite addicted to BF2 the past few days and certainly look forward to playing more and hopefully with you. Thats if you dont mind playin with a noob :)

My only problem is I have to upgrade my RAM... Only have 512 MB of RAM :( Game runs really slow and sometimes freezes. Its like Lag but graphic and sound lag.

Hope to see ya soon!
Icey

Welcome to the server, Icedog.

Basically, camping cappable points is "allowed", but doesnt really happen. If theres a cappable point, it usually get taken or defended.

Uncaps, well, they arent supposed to be camped during the round. However, if all the other points are capped, we usually allow it only so we can keep things rolling. We dont like rounds dragging on forever, so if a team is dominating everything, then we just want a round to end, and at that point, we may reorganize the teams a tad to make things a little more fair.
