Put it this way.... I have never been so amazed at a game as I am now. The amount of detail that went into this game is unreal. I can honestly say you absolutely will not be dissapointed in this purchase. Anyone who even remotely likes FPS will crap they're pants willingly while playing this game.

Halo 2 doesn't hold a candle to this game.

i watched my friend play it a bit. Its a must buy

only disspaointments are that if you buy it from the store, all you get is the box and cd's..... no cd cases, no manual, no flyiers trying to get you to by other things too even.

its $55 in stores too, so expect to pay 60 with tax.... i'm tempted to buy it through steam

Must have, if on the basis of the engine and graphics alone. The voice-acting is great, which lets you see one of the most beautiful things on a computer- facial expressions by the characters. Its great from what I've seen on the demos. Another, the new grav gun looks sweet, and the objects you can move around... Crap, I'm gonna pee my pants just thinking about this game. However, I heard the storyline leaves you hanging and annoyed- its somewhat fragmented. Plus, the weapons are a lil overpowered compared to what the enemies use on you (cept for a few things).

I too got my free with my GFX card. I heard as well about the story leaving you hanging, mostly due to the fact that Half life 3 is already on the drawing board, so it would make sence. Its been quite some time since I've stayed up the majority of the night playing for 7 hours straight and seeing that its 6 am when you were thinking it could be no later than 1 am.

Thats it.... I'm convinced. Half life 2 is the Devil.

Ok... Just because of my pessimistic/skeptical nature I was doing some searching around trying to find atleast 1 negative review about half life 2. Something, anything that had a negative notation towards the game. I have yet to be successful in my search. I personally can say the absolute only thing I could think that was even remotely negative about the game would be the fact that there in no multiplayer based off of Half life 2. Instead they re-did counterstrike with the new engine (which is cool). It would have been nice to have a co-op or atleast a built in multiplayer in HL2 utilizing all the new weapons and such. I guess they had to do something of that sort, otherwise I would forsee many of many people dying at their computers due to a lack of food, water and sleep.

If you are intent on finding faults, I know several of them.

Example #1.
It's not innovative. Half-life 2 isn't as big as Half-Life was when it came out. Sure, new source engine and all is great and important, but its not a new way of playing the game. HL original was the first instance in playing a game with a story that you can take part in, much less, feel a part of. HL 2 is based off that approach. Thus, the first fault is- Lack of an innovative approach to creating the game.

Example #2.
AI Opponents are still pretty dumb. Sure, they do the basic "take cover, and return fire," but that's really just all they do. They will commit suicidal charges at you only to be killed easily by you which leads me to my third fault...

Example #3.
Weapons. The weapons for the players (us) is a bit more powerful compared to the weapons wielded by the enemy. So to speak, we pack a more powerful punch than they. If wielding the same weapons, our damage inflicted outweighs theirs.

Example #4.
Storyline. This game leaves you with more questions than answers. In fact, it can be compared to the Matrix: Reloaded (aka, Matrix #2) and Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. It is more like the middle of the road for the overall story. Picks up where its predecessor left off, new conflict, new resolution, doesn't end the story. However, it does leave a lot of questions (clues) that are not answered, which leads people to believe that HL 2 is leading up to HL 3, or maybe "Ultimate Half-Life." Anyways, storyline is just pretty sad and fragemented, unlike the original Half-life.

That's all I'm giving for now, Sphere, so there's your faults that you tried to find.

Did I understand that right? No multi-player feature? Then what good is it?
