Gratz on the new PC. But I hate Dells with a passion. Prefer to build my own, or order from any company but Dell, and Compaq.

I prefer to build my own too, but this made the most economical sense. And with my college courses, I need a computer IMMEDIATELY. Don't have the time to wait for parts saving...

This way I can make payments over a period of time and have my computer immediately instead of saving up buttloads of cash for parts when money's already pretty tight...

And I used to work Customer Care for Dell too. So, trust me. I feel your pain with the Dell-hating. :P I only went to them because every other computer company blows big fat donkey things. :P

Snipeye. I'm currently building my own PC...and I was wondering what company is a good one to get it through. HP or Toshiba? I was thinking of Toshiba. And I would like to know if the PC is good. I'll give u the specs when I find out :) Thank you for your help in advance.

And Congrats Jyro! I bet your really excited right now. But ya collage is demanding. Believe me I should know I have a sister that got accepted into Johns Hopkins Medical. She went to the University of Maryland in Baltimore and she almost never had tome to spend with me because of her studies. So I hope Collage goes well for you Jyro.

HP is now HP/COMPAQ and really after seeing the new lap tops they have released(i used to think HP made good lap tops... and sucky desktops well now its both) I would say HP is now just good for printers and possiblye scanners and digital cameras. Toshiba is something i've never used. My thoughts if your not in a jam like Jyro build it yourself or buy the parts and have your boss build it for you see he sells computer parts im sure he can help you build it. Custom PCs are your friend brand name comps are good if your shipping off to college thus me getting a lap top for my Graduation gift :)!

Not sure if I understand what you're saying. Are you asking for recommendations on parts, or recommendation on a PC from a brand PC company? And like Beggins say, HP is sucking up. I would have recommended them awhile ago, when I got my 2800+XP Barton Core PC (still have it), but after the HP/Compaq merge.... Not looking good. Really, putting together a PC is your best option. Give me a max price tag and I'll price everything together for ya, best you can get (with/without monitor).

i havent heard good things from toshiba...

I have an Acer that i like a lot...
the only prob i've had is that the screen has a wierd light spot on it... its not a dead pixel or anything.. it looks like i spilled something on the screen but i've tried to whipe it away and it doesnt go.

Just make sure you get a long lasting battery with the laptop. mine lasts me 5 hours and it is awesome

Yes it has. I've had it for about a week now. I just can't find a way to get my old Gfx programs on it yet though. :(
