So, as some of you know, I'm an RA at my school. Our residence halls are kind of small and sometimes its hard to get students to turn out to programs.

As part of an incentive to get students to come out, we set up a raffle system. For each event a student goes to, they get one raffle ticket. In the final floor meeting we will be raffling off an iPod. The idea is that the students that are the most involved will be most likely to get the reward.

Well, the end of the semester is here, and its time to buy the iPod. However, we aren't sure which to get. The decision is between a 4gb iPod Nano and a 30gb regular Ipod. I cant decide which is better.

The nano is strictly Mp3's and has less storage, but is much more convenient because of its size.

the Regular has more storage, can view pictures, videos and can play games, but is much bulkier and heavier.

So the question: If you were to receive a free ipod, which one would you want?

the general bulkiness is not enough to turn down the features of the regular 30 gig one, as a college student alot of us use ipods while we study, and i for one would rather have all the music i can on the ipod, instead of having to choose because of the memory restraint.

The Nano is good for those that like to run and excercise with music, but the 30gb good for everything. I have a 60gb, it has movies, music, photos, and audio books... I never leave home without it!

If I was to receive a free iPod, I would take the most expensive one and cash it in. I'm a true-blue, anti-Apple person. I have a Toshiba Gigabeat S60. At the time I got it at Christmas, this 60GB Video MP3 player cost the same amount as an 30GB Video iPod, with additional features, such as FM Tuner, a 1.8" screen, landscape viewing of photos and movies.

30GB Regular iPod
Larger size, more bulky. Not so great to work out with because of its heavier size. and it uses a mini-hard drive. And if you know how hard drives work, you know there's a greater chance of an error if it gets bounced around too much. Nice to watch videos and stuff on, but it's screen is more of a portrait size than landcsape viewing. Cost from newegg: $236.99

4GB iPod Nano
Smaller size, less bulky. Great to have for workouts, walking, and running because of its design. No videos and photos really, but its a great storehouse for music. Cost from newegg: $184.99

If I ABSOLUTELY HAD TO PICK ONE, I would pick the 30GB regular iPod because it costs more, and that means I can return it/sell it for much more $$$ (If I had to keep it, however, I would go with the iPod Nano as my Toshiba is good enough to satisfy all my needs, except for running. Plus, my father would like one)

I didn't vote FYI.

The 30 gig isn't exactly heavy and it barely weighs down your pocket...

Gotta go with the one that can hold more stuff. You'd be surprised how fast 4 gigs can get filled up once you start putting songs on.

I think the more expensive iPod gives more incentive, but I can personally satisfy all my music needs with a 2g-4g version.

I purchased a Palm T|X before my trip to Florida. I have everything mentioned above and calendar, documents, games, notepad and other extras.

That's standard with the 30, 60 and 80gb ipods too... they sync with outlook to keep all your contacts tidy, but the best part IMO is disk mode for file transfers!
