Yea, I am a painter by trade, everyone that knows I am color blind asks how I do it. As matter of fact there are 3 other co workers (one of which is my father in law) of mine that are color blind! I know it sounds crazy (a color blind painter) but its very possible.
Ill fill you in on a little secret....
When your a commercial/industrial painter you learn very quickly to read blueprints. On a blueprint you will see a wall, cieling, pipe, floor, ect. On that wall or whatever it is will have a code. The code corrosponds to the color of paint that goes on whatever it is your painting. All you do is look for the code within your stock of paint. Not only does the 5 gallon bucket of paint have the code but also the color name. So it is actually relativly easy. Now lets say some jokester like yourslef came along and poored a certain color of paint into a clean empty bucket that had a different color code on it, then yes, my job becomes very difficult. However if a person on the job gets caught doing such thing, they might get fired! (That did actually happen to me on a job too) I was painting Childrens Hospital a little over a year ago. The color I was painting in was purple. Someone took an old bucket that did have purple in it and put blue paint in it, then switched it with my bucket. Needless to say I did about 3 hours of work in the wrong color paint. Yea I got laughed at by the guy that pulled the prank on me but he wasnt laughing when he got 2 month suspension and had to pay for the job to be reworked.
Anyhow, yes I am color blind but I am known to be a pretty darn good painter!

From about 8th grade till I got to my junior year in high school I wanted to be an electrician!
My junior year of high school I went to apply for vocational school to become an electrician. My first day there the teachers first question was... Is anyone in class colorblind? Since I was colorblind I had to leave and go back to regular school. I couldnt work as an electrician because of the color coded wiring.
So, just think if that teacher wouldnt have asked that question I could have been the one wiring up your house!

Good story to read and its good to see other color blind painters other then my old man and me. I used to be a carpentar and painter from age 11 - 22. Great work but computers pays way more for some reason.
