Circuit City invites wrath of the MPAA by copying DVDs

I can't wait to see this play out in court. I don't think CC has a legal leg to stand on, but I am sick of digital rights management and happy to see someone take a jab at it.

Circuit City will possibly be fined for such an incursion after Sony's foul-up with the DRMs. In fact, with CC getting caught now will most likely result in harsher penalties after what rulings and court appearances and the huge outrage that emerged after the Sony Debacle. So yes, you are correct Dun. CC has no legal leg to stand on, much less to work with or bargain about after Sony has set up all the legal precedents needed for groups and governments to sue for damages, and policy damages, especially since Sony lost.

I noticed that at the bottom of the article there was a note that the sign was not an official CC sign and that corporate didn't authorize or indorse it. Someone's gonna be sacraficed.
