We have a new Pope of the Catholic faith! Everyone cheer!!!! Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger of Germany has become Pope Benedict XVI. The first German pope since the 11th Century. More news here:

I would think we'd be adult enough to discuss religion. Either way, this post was just to let you all know about this big news, in case you don't watch TV or haven't heard of it yet.

My primary issue with it has nothing to do with religion, rather the part about not watching TV or reading the news...

I was upset to be smacked in the face with news and news specific to one religion just after climbing out of bed and before making my coffee. Luckily for everyone, only my cat is privy to my choice initial verbal response.

Hard as I try to avoid current events, I am painfully able to partake in in-depth discussion on most world affairs. Today of course, being no exception...
