Gamecloud talked on the phone this morning with GarageGames marketing director Jay Moore who said those images and video come from tech demos that the team has been working on for their Torque Engine and that no full blown development of a "Tribes successor" is in the works. Moore did confirm to Gamecloud that they plan to show off some of those tech demos at the Game Developers Conference next month.


So much for the rumor I guess. It will still be interesting to see what can be done with this tech demo.

Maybe I should drop into the Garage Game offices and have a little chat. Do you think a visit from Lady would help? :D I figure so many of them played Tribes or helped develop it, that they are as hungry for a newer version as the rest of us. It might be worth a try.

I think it's safe to assume that the possibility of a Tribes-like game coming from one of those 'tech demos' is fairly high. I just think they're playing the smart card and trying to avoid any official word that it's like Tribes.

I take GarageGames word on it that the video was just "from tech demos that the team has been working on for their Torque Engine", but . . . . it might also have been a well placed leak to see what sort of enthusiasm and demand might be out there for a NEW Tribes game.

Give me T2 + Better Graphics and maybe some added features or new weapons, and I am there!

At that time of day (night/morning), I'd be shocked if ANY dawgs have seen you logon :shock: , so I'm still skeptical :lol: .

I'm sure that T:V was a financial disaster for VUG and I'd be surprised if anyone wanted to pony up cash for a follow up. I hope I'm wrong. They don't need to build a single player game - just MP and maybe some training stuff.
