I'm not pushing religion; but if the Ark has been found then we have a physical piece of what is man's greatest achievement in the history of this planet, to save oneself from extinction and a documented account of the steps taken to preserve some of the animal and plant life facing extinction.

Which is a valuable lesson for our modern world. We have one planet to sustain our life, its time we treated our home and each other with more respect.

that article didnt even mention any carbon dating.

The only reason they think its the ark is because it in the mountains and its big. "similar in size and scale" .. and who knows what "similar" means.

Its not even in the right mountain range where it is suposed to be.

According to what I read it's n the right mountain range, its just that everyone assumed it was on Mount Ararat and not in the Ararat mountain range.

If they open it and a bunch of spirits fly out and melt people's faces - then you'll know they have the real ark. ;)

Oh yes, I should have realized from Kraska's post. I think the Arc of the Covenent is in some African church according to the history channel.

Like Kraska said, without Carbon Dating evidence there is no proof of what it is. Also, even with Carbon Dating, more evidence is needed to come to a rational conclusion.

Also, I'd be curious to see if there's any dinosaur fossil's near by.

I'd go into more detail, but this is an eggshell topic, atleast on this particular board.

I will say this though;

It's pretty safe to say there is a huge bias amongst the team that "discovered" it, even from their name - "Bible Archaeology Search and Exploration group". Their mission statement is this -
Quote:
The Bible Archaeology, Search & Exploration (B.A.S.E.) Institute is dedicated to the quest for archaeological evidence to help validate to the world that the Bible is true, and that it represents an accurate, non-fictional account of God’s will to bring the people of this world back into relationship with Him.
That came from their site here: http://www.baseinstitute.org/

Truth is, Noah's Ark is found every few years; always in a different place. There are people who think that it was already discovered before, and there are people like me who think that it's existence is entirely questionable.

B.A.S.E officials concede that there would be no way to conclusively prove that their finding is actually Noah's Ark.
So this discussion doesn't really matter. Not trying to be a Debbie Downer or anything. Just think it's better to avoid a religious debate.

Agreed.

Yeah, I'm still working on finding a CMS that works for me, because I'm too lazy to make my own. I also lost a ton of art just recently, so it's been a little discouraging.

I was not starting a religious debate, I was trying to avoid it. Most people associate The Ark with religion for the most obvious reason, however a lot of scholars are interested purely for the historical significance of the find.

This isn't about religion, if you need physical evidence to use as an anchor for faith then, your faith is questionable. Any triumph of man over formidible circumstances is noteworthy, like our desire to venture off world.

However it doesn't matter who funds the search or an expedition. Any anthropoligist, historian, scientist will tell you they need money to do what they love to do, and except for a personal code of morality, they could care less who grants funding. I wouldn't be at all surprised that carbon dating will occur soon.

Exactly, which is why I have no faith. But anyways, I wonder if they've even thought about digging around the "discovery" and looking for fossils.

Hmmm, I don't know if a paleontologist came along for the finding or if any of the scientists that are part of the expedition are interested in looking around up there for anything but what they found. Send them an email.
