He set up the files in the proper folders they should be extracted to. Backup up your Tribehud file and the menu[whatever] file in case you want to go back.

Theoretically there is no way to cheat with a hud, so no worries. Simply moving stuff around and adding in a T2-type file that shows who has the flag.

Go into your content/system folder and find the tribeshud.ini. Rename it something like tribeshud.in1. Then put the tribeshud.ini file from the zip file in that same folder.

Next, in the same folder, find the QuickChatMenu.ini and rename it QuickChatMenu.in1 then put the QuickChatMenu.ini from the zip into that folder

Don't add the .ini, just rename it TribesHud and save it. Apparently the .ini takes care of itself. I found this out the hard way.

I was telling him to rename it in1 not ini, or "eye en one" not "eye en eye", so that it wouldn't overwrite the file. Artemis I am refering to the file that is on your harddrive not the one in zip file.

So that mean find the tribeshud.ini file in your content/system, and rename that one. Then put the NEW tribeshud.ini file in that same folder. If it asks you to overwrite, you failed hit "no" and RENAME THE FILE IN YOUR CONTENT/SYSTEM folder.
