I recommend this movie to those of us that like the ultra-violence. I did see it on opening day but just forgot to spread the word. The story is rather juvenile but it is still really well exhibited on screen.

The art direction is fantabulous. The film noir/black and white approach really worked well for this movie. Plus there is a whole lot of dark comedy in this movie, which I really like.

So in conclusion, if you think you are as cool as me (yeah right! no one can be that cool, I even doubt myself sometimes.) go see this movie. If not then pass on it.

And britney murphy can not act. I say this not as opinion, not as an observation, not even as a thesis, it is a cold hard fact. She is in the wrong field. Anyway that is all.

Not really my kind of movie, but I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Actually the last movie I saw in theaters was Toy Story.

O.o

ROFLMAO... Toy Story! That's like 10yrs old now... its a classic due to its impact on animated computer generated cinema now?

Sin City was over the top, if only it wasn't in black and white... it was just too "gritty, dark and seedy" for me it probably hurt my eyes because I was so tired, except for that I'd pay to see it again. And Ganks I agree Britney Murphy is terrible, worse than Jennifer Tilley (who is a horrible actress but an attractive woman, she makes such great shocked and scared facial expressions besides her...mmm... ohh ... ahem... where was I ) Oh Yeah, Britney Murphy sucks as an actress!

No fan of the "Over-the-top" movies like this. I am picturing Kill Bill and Kill Bill 2, with the over-the-top volcanic blood loss upon severing of limbs . . . Maybe that's not the over-the-top kinda over-the-top action you're talking about - I dunno - haven't seen it.

I prefer the Epic tales like Braveheart, Last of the Mohicans, The Last Samurai, Troy, Gladiator, and of course the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Hell, I'll even take the Dungeons and Dragons movie over Kill Bill.

Dungeons and Dragons huh... I was excited that they'd make a movie out of it.... just like DUNE. The first DUNE sucked too and I'm a huge fan of all Frank Herberts novels and stories. I like Pharoah's other picks, those were good movies. However I am a fam of Kill Bill, Quentin Tarantino didn't use just one venue, ie Black and White... he used them all including anime. The use of sound, light, action, black and white, slow mo, fast mo, and his splintered way of storytelling...every frame was bursting with action and kept me wanting more. I wasn't thrilled with the gore but it was a modern day kamericanized kung fu flick.

Sin City just hurt my eyes, but I was tired when I went to see it, I'll give it another shot since I didn't take my sons.

I'll give it an A+ in regards to Cinematography. It was a beautiful film - I just thought the gore surpassed my believability threshhold to the point of "cheese". It was reminiscent of the overacting of William Shatner and Jim Carey, but applicable to the special effects.

Dunna, what little they know about us . . . .

The gore wasn't that over the top, the violence was. Over the top gore to me is kill bill vol. 1, where you can bleed 5 gallons of blood per minute for half an hour, and still survive! I personally think that this movie made up for the last six movies I have seen and been extremely disappointed with.

As for it being cheesy you have to take into consideration that this a comic book movie. So when comparing it to other movies you have to give it a little slack. I say this is equal to the FIRST batman, if not better for all aspects...except britney murphy's acting. I mean jesus they gave her cheesy lines, that are supposed to be delievered cheesily, and she still screws it up.

I say it is a cool movie, and if you are cool you will like it. If you don't like it then you aren't cool, and I probably shouldn't be talking to you because it will ruin my street cred. :P

Well, during my trip to MA, the motel had Sin City listed for pay for view and I watched with all the action loving family members (my mom and sis wussed out! )

After my second viewing I give this movie a two thumbs up, I loved it, there were sections I forgot about, like Mickey Roarke (roughneck) and his escape from the cops after he discoved Goldy was dead. The convo during the car ride with Jack to the tarpits... classic dark humor! Best of all, the opening scene with Josh Harnett to set the mood and tempo for the movie and the last scene with him as well. I will add the flick to my DVD collection.
