You can get the X-540 for less than $100 I think, so that'll giveyou an easy 5.1 surround sound system. And you're right, that is FREAKISHLY close to what I was talking about....

Let's see...Good case choice; I got the 1st P180. It's good, but I want a different case (I think mine is jinxed). Good choice of PSU, that will definteily be needed with all the hardware you are using for your computer. And you can never have too much power... unless you're paying too high of a premium for it (you're not!). The Asus and 1st eVGA mobos are good; stick with one of them. (The Asus may be overkill though). Good choice, not as OCable as the E63/6400 but the 4MB will definitely be great if you don't plan on OCing at all. RAM is good... Optical Drive is good (you sure you don't want two? ) Nice choice on soundcard... Go with the EVGA 8800; this is more of a brand-performance choice on my part. This is what can make this an easy decision for you; check the warranty on it, and check to see if you can get any rebates or special warranty (like a 2nd owner warranty). DO NOT GO WITH FOXCONN! They are decent/good at mobos, but I have yet to see how good their video cards are (and not even a stress test on any of them either. I've heard they are very basic, very similar to the manufacturer's model). You should get a G15 keybaord as that will mark you as a gamer, definitely (and you get a cool looking stat screen for games like BF2, BF2142, etc. etc.) Hmmm.. No Mouse. Here are my suggestions; MX518/G5/G7/Razer gaming mouse. Any of these four will be great (Personally, I'd recommend the 518 or Razer). Hmmmm... I'm jealous of the monitor. I want one! Hmmm... TV tuner card is what you'll need. Good ones are somewhat pricey, but not that bad.

Price cuts: Go with the EVGA mobo as that will reduce the cost a bit. If you're in college, they sometimes have deals on OS CDs that you can buy for a very low price (XP Pro for me costs $15 at college). I don't see anything else that won't give you a performance hit (ex. Go to a 7950GTX from the 8800GTS will hurt a bit, same with changing cases). The motherboard and case should be big enough and have enough ports for it to cover EVERYTHING. Just be aware of a few things: it's going to be a small, tight fit with the videocard in that case. The 8800s are longer than regular video cards because of its design and method to dissipate heat; more surface area = more room for heat to be exposed to air = more cooling. Hope this helps you out. Lemme know how the build go/price, and I should be able to help you find some better prices maybe.

Here's a list of stores for you to check prices at:
newegg.com
smksuperstore.com
tigerdirect.com
COMPUSA.com
Xoxide.com
Monarch.com
ZipZoomFly.com

If you want to keep checking out cases, xoxide has a HUGE listing of cases, with pictures and other info. Newegg does the same, and includes customer ratings/opinions (but some of the choices aren't available).
