I don't think there are any map packs yet.

You realize also, since T:V uses the ut engine, you'll be able to download maps while still in the game...right?

The only actual "packs" will probably be official releases with installers; but I imagine you wont see map packs like T2 had simply because you dont need to download them before you get in game.

there probably won't be map packs. Everything is auto-downloaded. No more client side maps

No if the server the new map is on, has auto-download enabled, then you will automatically download the map as you join. However, currently the download speed is capped at like 2.5kbs if you are downloading it directy from the server.

There is a way to redirect the download requests to a webserver but T:V doesn't have it working currently.

Only "official" map packs will have installers, i.e. ones made by VU after T:V was released, like the Dynamix map packs

Ok, will I have to manually redirect it? Or will an update fix that?

I thought I was clear here is how it works.

:( <=====you with no maps

:P <=====server with maps

You connect to the server.
:( ---------> :P

:P says hahaha no maps for you!!!!

:( you say can I have maps? PLZ?

:P server says okay maps for you!!!

Server sends the map to you.
:( <----------- :P

:P <=====You with maps!

You automatically download the maps from the server. Thus the title AUTO-DOWNLOAD.

Now the redirect is purely server side. The redirect is another automatic function. It works by RE-DIRECTING you to another server to get the maps. The reason for this is because the gameserver (The one you see in the in-game browser) has a hard coded limit, something like 2.5kbs. This is because of all the traffic the game server has coming and going from it.

So to counter act this the unreal 2k3/4 programmers created the ability to redirect players to another server where the maps can be stored, and can offer a higher download speed. Thus the redirect is serverside. So all you have to do is connect to a server wait for the maps to download then voila!
