Starforce Backstabs Stardock

Starforce is a big topic of debate in the forums most of the time. Whether you are completely against it or don’t mind it, you’ll certainly agree that pointing out a torrent to an illegal download of a non Starforce protected game is certainly a rather shameful business tactic.

Much maligned anti-piracy software developer Starforce has sunk to a shocking new low in making a case for using its product. In a posting on its company messageboards an admin (who may or may not be directly employed by the company) included in a post the link to an active torrent file trading link for the recently released Galactic Civilizations 2. The link has subsequently been removed, but the text of the post remains. The poster states "Right now several thousands of people are downloading the pirated version only from that web-site. Is it good for the sales? Unlikely."

Starforce is an anti piracy software developer. Their software has ruined thousands of customers hardware because it slowly degrades the speed of your CD drives until the point where they will not work. Stardock is a game development company, who recently released Galatic Civilzations II. They chose NOT to include any piracy protection with this game, hoping that giving the trust back to the gaming community would pull more sales and they were successful. Because they were successful, Starforce, the anti piracy company, posted a link to a torrent for Galatic Civilzations because they chose not to include any protection.

In other words, Starforce needs to be shut down, for very many bad business practices.
