So, with all the new releases this month I figured I'd share my opinion with the games I've bought so far.

Quake 4 - Single player is great, but not challenging. Playing on hard is about as difficult as playing t2 bots on hard. The AI stands there, shoots back and thats about it. Compared to recent shooters this is very disappointing.. but it's still not entirely bad. Runs great, no lag with my slightly upgraded 2+ year old machine. Multiplayer is dull, limited to 16 players but this can be changed of course. Multiplayer includes maps from Quake 2 and 3, and are almost if not completely exact remakes of those maps. This was a big let down to me.. as I'm sure it is to other Quake fans.

F.E.A.R. - GREAT action, singleplayer has the scare effect that DOOM 3 should have had. AI is decent, and the graphics are wonderful. It plays like Half Life 2 with a tad of Max Payne and Ghost Recon thrown in for good measure. There is even a few melee attacks thrown in such as a roundhouse kick and a sliding kick, and of course the classic pistol whip. Again with this one though, Multiplayer isn't all that great. It has some unique things included but this game is certainly made for singleplayer.

Indigo Prophecy - This is a very unique game, and I know alot have not even heard of it. If you ever read those 'Choose your own destiny' books as a kid and enjoyed them, then this may appeal to you. It plays out a story for you, and your interactions decide what happens next. The story is certainly not a childrens book however.. so don't get the wrong impression. It's a fun one with something different to offer.

Call of Duty 2 - Single player campaign rocks once again, lots and lots of stuff to do. But we all know this game stays around for as long as it has for the multiplayer. So far, when I've been able to play lag free in a server (which is not very often at all) I can tell that the gameplay has improved.. but the lag is terrible every where, and some of the new maps are dare I say strange. Weapons seemed more balanced, from my experience so far the Tommy gun isn't as godly as it once was at any range.

City of Villains comes out on the 31st.. and I've been a part of the beta since it started. With the last beta event on sunday, all I can say is this is going to be a great game with very fun PVP action on the side. I also have a few free City of Heroes trials at the moment, if anyone is interested shoot me a PM.

Hope this was helpful to those with a little extra money this month ;)

You're missing the biggest release of October/the year/the decade/the century and the millenium: Civilization 4. Sorry no FPS in this game...you actually have to use your brain more than your mouse!

For those interested, it comes out Wednesday. Also, I'd be happy to destroy your civilizaton, if you would like me to! PM me if you need such services....

Civ games never impressed me. AoE 3 is great however.. as well as Rome: Total War.

I don't know about Civ4. Civ3 was pretty good, but the end game was just painful. I won, but now I have to play another 3 hours to actually beat the other computer opponent... Plus that stupid corruption thing.

So Cyn, did you try BF2? I think that is an outstanding MP game with friends and pubbing can occasionally be pretty good.

Yeah I've had BF2 since it came out.. played it alot when it came out with AC and dropped it after awhile due to lack of interest but it was not the game itself, I lost interest in the team and decided to stop.

If you want a gaming experience that Tribes can't deliver in RPG style WoW is the answer. Be warned will cause instant addiction so if you are very busy remember to do as I do and limit your play time. On a lighter note my Wife will be playing WoW with me as that will be our time together in gaming mode at least :D

I can't wait for the release of Stracraft Ghost!!!!
