Verizon has sold its soul and sold out on it's customers... it's true, read the articles.

http://blogs.zdnet.com/ip-telephony/?p=2649

http://networkinstruments.wordpress.com ... o-the-fcc/

I'd demonstrate my distaste for this business venture by ending my business but I just re-uped my family plan and upgraded all the phones. (shaddup Beggin!)

Anyway there are a number of ways to show your dissatisfaction, I will do all of them. Verizon may be the first to try this but I think the practice will spread if people don't start complaining with their money! (One mo' time... shaddup Beggin!)

Seriously... stop laughing Beggin or I will lance you all night long!

I still like the network and my lack of dropped calls but this SUX! There needs to be legislation to stop datamining and profit made from collection and distribution of personal information.

Easiest way to opt-out, call Verizon’s special number: 1-800-333-9956.

Heh poor you, I have to deal with T-mobile all the time due to the increased popularity of people leaving T-mobile(joke if anyone has ever called T-mobile their wait message says Due to the popularity of people coming to T-mobile your wait time is X minutes) and coming to Sprint, I have to deal with their customer care and everytime I have to call Cingular, or T-mobile I die a little inside. They make a process that is so simple, so very hard...

I've had a great experience with them actually. It's sort of satisfying

They are all partners with Vodaphone and Qualcomm, they will get your info no matter what carrier you are with. I personally use Tmobile, never had any problems.

That's what I was thinking, I would like to believe it's their way of protecting themselves from future lawsuits. The FBI and a few cellphone carriers got in trouble for warrantless searches. Turning the data over to a third party while giving the customer an opt-out cuts their liability.

There's another thing that does bother me. A few weeks back, one of my local news channels did a story on datamining corporations. Using your cell number they could provide your name, date of birth, SSN, address, prior addresses, employment history, education history, legal history and purchases. In short, your life on screen exported or saved as text, html, pdf!

In short anytime you fill out a form and list your cellphone as a contact... they got you. All your shipping via UPS, FEDEX... your internet service emails. You should have seen the scared expressions on the faces of the women they encountered. Anyone, for a small fee, can have access to anyone's private information and that isn't right!

It is for this reason I do not use any email addresses attached to any forums with employent. Best believe most, if not all human resources depts have an account with a datamining corporation for backround checks and they are thorough!
