Ok, I bought this game and to me it seems like TV with worse graphics and in slow motion. What am I missing? I see so many people playing T2. If possible could someone give me a run down in the game and some pointers?

There are too many threads covering this already.

There are a variety of mods for this game variant (base), classic aka classuk (lol), warfare, v2 and a few others. Then there are a variety of game types. CTF (my favorite), hunters, team hunters, lak rabbit, team rabbit, siege, construction and others I've forgotten about. There are the weapons and vehicles... its just different! Also, there is the fact that more people can play in a server together so the "carnage" is greater.

All I can tell you is to meet us on Wednesday night in a server... try it, you might like it.

Graphics do not make the game fun. What makes the game fun are numbers along with the fact that almost all the tribes elders including t1 and t2 players thought vengeance wasn't truly tribes. Most of them stayed and did just that. In t1 and t2 there are more numbers in both games and both games have had their fair share of support also the tribes 2 gameplay has a learning curve unlike vengeance. In t2 when you want to ski you actually have to know how to. You dont need to just hit the space bar like in vengeance and then you ski everwhere your heart desires. In Tribes 2 you get a better sense of satifaction when you score points or help your team win. That is because there are many obstacles you have to overcome and anyone that thinks they can come from vengeace and be good at tribes 2 right off the bat they are wrong its much much different.

The difference is: They are not nearly the same game. Just because you have jetpacks and weapons that are named the same does not mean they are remotely the same thing as the originals.

The difference is: The maps in T2 are vast and infinite, you can go anywhere and do anything. The stock maps in vengeance are small and contained. You cannot go anywhere you want to.

The difference is: The intensity that comes along with T2, the fast paced flag duels, chases, having to watch your back constantly for shocklancers and shrikers, having to apply teamwork instead of cowboy tactics is no where found in vengeance.

On my own personal opinion, the graphics in vengeance are great yes, but when they aim high and try to make them great they fail at making alot of things stand out and disappoint people like me who go by the word of developers. There are more graphical glitches with the vengeance engine, more physics glitches, more loopholes.. the differences are endless.

In a nutshell...T:V is a dumbed down version of T2.
They simplified the game for players...reducing the learning curve ALOT!

And to say "classuk" thats just crazy. Playin a pub in base is just boring.
Its like watching a Red-Lazer light show.
All peeps do is snipe cuz its soooo easy with slow motion play of base.

Now I <3 T2c..it was just time to move on. I played it from the time it came out.
Thats why I play T:V now.

Oh and BTW...for ur BF2 players...we now have quite a growing team.
If you are looking for peeps to play with..drop by almost any night on our Ventrillo.
Yes we use Vent now. You can get the info on our Home Page www.nxatribe.com
The IP and port are on the right hand side..u will need the latest Version of Vent...
which u can get from our files page...which u can get to from the left side under Board Navigation.
I have been playing alot more BF2 now...as pubbin in tribes Suxors these days

Does NXA have a BF2 server, or do you just pick one to pub on? A group of us have been playing quite a bit on the "Wisconsine Death Trip" server. I have really enjoyed the games and admin involvement there!

Why hunt moose anyway? We're just big, slow, dumb, and make for easy kills...oops.

In T2, RD is a base playing group, right? We support other versions now because we support the T2 community as a whole, but given a choice, we'd play base, right? Just checkin.....

I certainly hope you are right Olga, because for me...BASE is where its at. Base rules. Classic sucks.

Sorry Sound_Guy. Poor man is wrong so seldom, this may come as a shock. He probably won't take it well. :P

I used to be strictly seen in base servers only.. but ever since Tribescon, I really don't mind classic or even V2. Classic gives me a slightly bigger range with my shocklance, and v2 is really fun to whore flag carriers down in. However, I play my best in base. Why you ask? Because it's slow?

No.

Because I played base for a year and a half to two years before classic was even in production, and because of the countless hours I spent trying to master every weapon within the base physics and speed. T2 was meant to be played in base.

Base rocks... I like all except Warfare. I just can't get into it and it screws up my favorites.

Classic is cool, I like both Classic and V2 for the speed my Juggernaut can obtain but I prefer base, it requires more attention to detail in my opinion.

Well first..i played T2 from time it was released..it wasnt that long b4 classic came out.
Definately not 2 years.
And in the "HeyDay" of tribes2...obviously T2c was by far the most popular.
MOSTLY because it was alot closer to how T1 played.....
Most of us that came from T1 just didnt like the slow play of T2 base (variant).
Obviously to say T2c sux is just ridiculous..come on.
I NEVER said base sux..i just dont like how it turns into a snipe-fest.
Its just not what tribes is suppose to be IMHO.
Its just too easy to snipe flag carrier.
You cant argue with that..go into Miami Vehicles (the ONLY populated base server)
Its like going to a Red-Lazer Light show

It does appear some agree

BF2...yes we have a server..the info is on the right-hand side of our homepage.
I believe Thurs nights will be the night we do full team stuff
Please join us if u wish. If we dont have enuff to start a pub in our server.
We just go into a pub and play. break into squads and practice in pubs.
We are tryin to get into Beml season 2. It appears we have enuff to.
But if some would like a place to play BF2..u r welcome to join us.
The more the merrier.

Lets just agree to disagree on the T2 thing....

Much <3 to =RD=

Well to be technical, the 'official' version of classic was released 10/31/02.

Tribes 2 was released 3/30/01.

That's one year, seven months and one day apart.

To assume all base servers turn into 'snipe fests' is ridiculous. Servers like Miami Vehicles while being extremely populated even to this day, does not represent the base community in the slightest. I've been in alot less 'snipe fests' than I have 'chain fests' and I certainly have played more base than classic over all. There is no denying the simplicity they added to the chaingun in classic, and there is no reason to ignore such a thing when you say that base is a snipe fest. Both have their problems obviously, and both games were meant to be different. They didn't call it Tribes *2* for nothing. The speed in classic feels unnatural in alot of aspects, while most would argue the exact opposite. However, watching any of the three classes out run a shrike at full speed is sad and is a fine example of the level of realistic balance classic offers.

Basing your opinions off of the current state of the base community shows just how relevant your argument is, and how deep you actually played base before classic was released. Classic appealed to the Tribes 1 base elitests, while Tribes 2 base appealed to the people who either didn't play Tribes 1 base, or started with Tribes 2. Both are entirely different communities, and this group so happens to be saturated with those who enjoyed Tribes 2 base over classic or had no bias. This isn't the right place to argue about it no matter how relevant your arguments may seem to you.

Before you reply, please realize that none of what I have said was meant to be hostile or accusatory so please do not take it that way.
